Enlightenment.

Somehow I don't know why, lately I've been fascinated on how, what and why a movie or short film was made. To me film-making is a cross-discipline that need a transgression of limitation; one that over-rule the limit of imagination and story telling; pure form of art.

Some stories need music, visual, or just plain commentary to play the emotion directly through the audience, touches the five senses; see, hear, smell, touch and taste. Different director uses different approach; like this ghostlike + thriller movie made Peter Jackson - The Lovely Bones:

...puzzle + maze story like the one Christopher Nolan made with his movie Inception - and I love the way he play around with the depiction of lucid dream and Penrose Stairs:

...and maybe just a simple autobiography; spoken clearly inviting sympathy on the innocence of music; simple universal language clearly depicted by Roman Polanski - The Pianist on how depressive; humanistic and fight for survival in a non-violence manner (Yes. I'm clearly a sympathizer of any human oppression; no matter which races they are):

Well, I personally LOVE this one, especially the scene which start at 0:36 that to me clearly depicts cultural adversity and technological wonder combine into one; China (maybe? but it's clearly eastern culture) in the near future and with its ghostly music sure make a hair-raising, hypnotizing moment out of me:

Personal love story that I do like best? Well, to me one that is simple yet direct to the point (and I don't like happy ending) mesmerizing me more than a drama-like, telenovela tear jerking one... (but it's also subjected to change in the near future, depends on the mood heh):

Howard from Julia Pott (well, all of us will have to pass this stage aren't we? for some they endure, changing what's wrong, another choose to move on by seeing someone else) on Vimeo.

Fascinating!

p/s: Wanto buy a video DSLR of my own, considering Canon 550D because of its high frame-rate up to 60fps (slow-mo capabilities) and to me it is by far the best, fast-forward then its nearest competitor - Nikon... (love-hate relationship with Nikon btw... heh)

For a newbie, the trade-off is not kinda far-fetched isn't it? ^_^ (Well, its just a tool. The one behind it is all that matters... Right?)

Salton Sea Beach from Philip Bloom made with 550D/T2i on Vimeo.
