Well, the World Cup is back!! After 4 years of gruesome fighting and waiting from the last final skirmish between France (Infamous Headbutt) and Italy (-_-) people just can't get enough with football... or soccer.
It's funny lately that I've come across some comments of sentiments on the internet; bashing football calling it a violence sport and "un-intelligent" (while endorsing "baseball" and "American Football" as the intelligent one... =_=); I will not challenge them as everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Maybe it is because of their ignorant nature in exploring things that are alien to them and by stereotyping it makes them feel inferior and bodoh sombong as if the world is theirs;well... let's not make it an issue.
For all I know, football is the only sport in the world that can unite people; whether they are in war or discrimination, regardless in which situation that can be dire to some. (Olympic? Nah... -_-)
There were also some stories back then in the times of World War I, that soldiers from England and German call it a truce at Christmas and play football instead. All the negative feeling of killing the opposite side was forgotten for a while and they play happily as if they are no grudge between them...
The late Bertie Felstead, one of the survivor said, "It wasn't a game as such, more a kick-around and a free-for-all. There could have been 50 on each side for all I know. I played because I really liked football. I don't know how long it lasted, probably half an hour."
O_o Magic.
In some part of the world, football is religion. In South America for example, they are also a saying that "Men can only choose three path of their lives; if they are fond for books, you can go to college and be educated. If you are athletic, you can be a football player. If you are not both of it, the only way of surviving is to get involve in a gang working as a drug dealer climbing through the food chain."
To Brazilian, football to them is like music. Garrincha everyone? =)
Have you ever heard of Arthur Friendreich? He was definitely the first player to personify all that we expect when it comes to Brazilian football. "Football from the moon" some call his play back then, as his football skill has put Brazilian football so ahead of times..
Of all the legends like Pele and Diego Maradona, I personally like Zinedine Zidane despite the fact that the last 2006 World Cup final was a blunder, I still held him high as my idol. ^_^ (and I did think that they are no one else play football as beautifully as him)
Personally, I did believe that all the grief and war in the world can be solve with football game. With its unpredictable and "dribbling art", football are truly the only game in the world that are capable in doing that. Joga Bonito. ^_^
p/s: The question is... when will Malaysia capable enough to join the league? O_o
Good things come to those who wait, but still, we will wait forever if we did not struggle for it and BETTER things comes to those who work for it.
Yeah. Malaysia Boleh!! xD
